installed xmms as was told it has a smaller footprint - am trying to follow the "Robert" philosophy and despite having Perl and wifi and flash working have kept ONLOAD to under 10 files - or thereabouts thus far. I did like VLC on my Windows box but it had its problems there and if xmms works its the winner - looks fine but doesn't play flash videos - a bit of a problem because I publish, edit 2 - 5 videos a week, and like to pretest, but I'll see if I can get Firefox to view local as its flash is working and that will solve that.
Only problem with Firefox is it ignores MP3 and I looked at their plug ins - nope - ain't gonna install Java - always hated that "compile once - debug many" fat, bloated language.
So if anyone has a "tight patch" for MP3 in Firefox, as far as I am concerned if it works, I can dump all the music players and just do everything there locally including script it to make and run media play lists, which would save a bit of space since Firefox has to be on board at all times for me anyway.
