updated kernel and awesome wm

Good afternoon everyone!  I am working on a project that contains newer hardware but unfortunately the current kernel version in use does not have the ability (through drivers or other aspects) to support the newer audio and video hardware (as I found out in another post).  As a result I need a newer kernel and wanted to go with the latest stable longterm version (currently 3.14.22 via kernel.org) unless reasons can be brought up to use a prior version.  I am also interested in using a window manager currently not in the repo - awesome (http://awesome.naquadah.org).
