raspberry pi model b+
« on: October 23, 2014, 01:48:00 AM »
i am fond of desktop version tiny core .
Now I have raspberry pi b+ , a 2GB SD card , a 5volt adapter of 1ampere .
I have seen http://tinycorelinux.net/5.x/armv6/releases/5.3/ .
Which one should I take if I want a GUI based OS .
In raspbian (that require card with 4GB or more) , they usually tell to flash image on sd card using dd in linux or wind32 disk imager in windows.
Anything different here ?

Use piCore-5.3.1-X image, copy it to the SD card the same way as Raspbian with dd or disk imager

accessing raspberry pi model b+ via android mobile
« Reply #2 on: October 23, 2014, 12:16:08 PM »
i have installed piCore-5.3-X.zip .
I can see gui on hdmi attached LCD tv.
I want to access this picore wirelessly from mobile on same network .
In services , i see dhcp , crond & tftpd .
Does that mean telnet or ssh server is not running on it ?
Then , which software do I need to install ? I do not see 'telnet'  in any software while ssh candidates are openssh , libssh2 .
Also , if i run vnc server on picore to access it wirelessly via mobile . Then , do I have to install x11vnc.tcz ?

Install openssh.tcz or dropbear.tcz to have remote ssh access. Telnet is unsecure, no telnet server available. For vnc install vnc server from repo.

apps with 'vnc' name are tigervnc-viewer & x11vnc . Which is server ?
Do I have to install ntfs-3g to access ntfs of external USB disk ?
Also I do not have USB keyboard presently (usb optical mouse attached) . Is there any app that shows on-screen keyboard in picore ?
i do not see mplayer in apps . Which software can play all(most) audio/video files ?

tigervnc-viewer is a client as its name suggests.

Install the filesystems-.....tcz extension to have access to NTFS file systems for read. If you want to write it, install ntfs-3g.tcz

For video playback choose OPENELEC.

For audio playback, try cmus.tcz
