alsa settings do no survive reboot.
« on: May 28, 2014, 08:32:36 PM »
Using core plus iso,did a frugal install, putting tce directory onto a linux mint partition(ext4), and booting with grub4dos.
   Installed firefox,flash,and alsagui. It all works perfectly,until I reboot;it's as if I never set the alsa, and must do it again,
every time I boot up.I suspect this has come up before(am using DELL with amd dual core,circa '07).

Hi dull
Did you read the info file for  alsa.tcz? I suggests adding
Code: [Select]
opt/alsa
etc/modprobe.conf
to  /opt/filetool.lst  and running a backup

Rich,
I looked at filedata.lst, it had only:
opt
home  ;
I then modified it:
opt/alsa
etc/modprobe.conf
home   ;
if this is what you meant, it had no effect, and in fact, on reboot, the filedata.lst had been restored to:
opt
home   , it's default state.
   I then reinstalled tiny with the smaller iso image and got exactly the same behaviour. Oddly, the front setting survives,
but the master setting goes back to zero
   BTW, where is the info file for the alsa/alsagui?

You were told to follow the instructions in the info file.
Read the info page in Apps or tce-ab.

Info nonexistent in apps browser;did find this on internet:
put this in /opt/filetool.lst:
etc/modprobe.conf
etc/asound.state
opt/alsa    ;
Put this in /opt/bootlocal.sh:
/usr/local/etc/init.d/alsasound start
/usr/local/sbin/alsactl restore             ;
Result: same as before, and not only filetool.lst was kncked back to it's previous default, but so was bootlocal.sh(!!!!!!!!!!!).
I'm stumped.

Might you have accidentally removed  opt  from  /opt/.flietool.lst ?
Download a copy and keep it handy: Core book ;)

Before you reboot+backup, save your current ALSA settings:
Code: [Select]
sudo /usr/local/sbin/alsactl store
Download a copy and keep it handy: Core book ;)

Bull.
The Apps browser shows the info page for the highlighted extension.
tce-ab shows the info page when you S)earch for the application ( alsa ) and select alsa from the list shown.

The info page for alsa.tcz clearly states that you must
1  sudo alsactl store
2. add 'usr/local/etc/asound.state' to /opt/.filetool.lst
3. do a backup.

If your backup is failing, check /tmp/backup_status.
