Slitaz vs TinyCore

This thread is not about deciding which of the two distros is better. It's about finding out what are their commonalities and distinctive features.

Could you please explain what are the main differences between Slitaz and TinyCore?
And what are the advantages of one over the other?

I have only taken a quick look at their web site. Therefore, I know little or nothing about it. However, I can say this.

TinyCore is a better and more descriptive name.

Just my humble opinion.

I'm not familiar with SliTaz. Checking their WEB site yesterday's release candidate comes with 3.2.52 kernel. The 3.2 line is really old. Specially for a new release generation 5.0 They spent 2 years for kernel tweaking

They seem to have the same philosophy and to be pretty much the same thing.
In an old post it is claimed that TinyCore is based on Slitaz, but TC's main developer rejected this claim. However, he admitted that TC was (partially) inspired by Slitaz.

Now, the question is: after all the years, how have the two distros differentiated themselves?

Why would one pick one distro rather than the other? (apart from TC's more recent kernel, which is just one difference)

Slitaz includes a browser and various other applications, which goes against the Core idea of not forcing apps on the user. The tech is slightly different, but I'm not too familiar with current slitaz to compare.

They seem to have dumped tinyx support.

Slitaz has a well-defined theme and look. We aren't as artistically inclined and prefer functionality. Obviously you can install $DE and your desired theme though.

It seems they stalled 5.0 while the main dev took a break. I'd say we have this better handled, as any team member is able to release, and most are able to hack things in base. Robert isn't as actively involved as he used to be, but releases continue to flow.

I have found SliTaz to be good, but slightly unstable at times, especially with video playback.
It has its own look & feel as a micro distro. Version 5 is taking a long time to release.
I keep SliTaz as a 'backup' distro, should I need a quick fix.
Both distros can be easily remastered.

Yeah, still the latest is 5.0 RC-2 from May

Most people use rolling (or cooking), which are more up to date than SliTaz 5.0 RC2.
