Can't Get to the Desktop Solved!

[Solved]Thanks again to all who replied. The file was corrupt -- I hadn't checked the md5sum. Now I'm ok.

I have the latest Tiny Core and Core Plus on CD's. On both, no matter what I do I come to a text prompt. Commands like "startx" and "xsetup" return the message, "not found." I have tried boot commands like "vga=795"; the booting seems different (found the video card, it seems), but I get to the same prompt.
I have used earlier versions of Tiny Core with no such problems. How can I get to the desktop?

HI: Latest version means that you have 5.2 , is this correct?
Do you have a /tce directory somewhere on your hard drive (s)?

Thanks for the reply. I have the latest, which I believe is 5.2. I don't have a tce folder anywhere. How do I make one, when I can't get to the desktop?

Check with 'mount' if extensions are mounted.

OK. I put a tce folder on my hard drive. Now I still need to know what to type into the prompt to get anywhere. "startx" doesn't work. Might I have a defective iso from which I derived the cd?

That's what it sounds like - did you check the md5sum after download?

Hi davec51,

1. If you don' t know, how to check md5sum, look here:

    http://wiki.tinycorelinux.net/wiki:md5sum

   This indicates, if the iso-image has been corrupted during download. Furthermore
    the  image could have been corrupted during burning to the CD. For that try:

   md5sum /dev/sr0

   Perhaps you have to adjust the path to your cd-rom device. I'm not sure, if this
   does work, I read it somewhere, I never did it myself.

2. Plase send the output of the

    mount

    command, like tinypoodle suggested.

3. Did you try to boot TC with another computer?
