wi-fi adapter not working in tiny core

I have NETGEAR WNA 1100 wireless-n 150 USB adaptor which works fine in backtrack5.

They're both quite clear, you need to install firmware. Only the previous message gave you a filename though, so you'll need to google for the latter.

Use the provides search to see which extension contains htc_9271.fw.

I have tp-link card with Atheros chip, that uses the same module as Yours NETGEAR WNA 1100 wireless-n 150 USB (ath9k_htc). The firmware for this module htc_9271.fw is on Debian backports repository
http://packages.debian.org/wheezy-backports/all/firmware-atheros/download
You can extract Debian package with ar vx and then data.tar.xz with tar xpvf. htc_9271.fw file will be in extracted lib/firmware folder. Copy it to Your /lib/firmware folder or make an extension with this firmware file. On my computer this firmware works excellent with ath9k_htc kernel module.

firmware.tcz has rtl8192cufw.bin firmware file inside, that you need for the second card, or you can try with Debian's firmware-realtek http://packages.debian.org/wheezy-backports/firmware-realtek the same way as in my previous description. I think you don’t need to compile realtek driver, because the kernel has already module for this card build in. It only needs firmware.

I don't know if simply loading the firmware extension is enough to trigger the boards to load their firmware files. Try
adding  firmware.tcz  to your  onboot.lst  file and rebooting, then check  dmesg  again.
