beaver crash in 2.x

(1/1)

jls:

--- Code: ---tc@box:~$ sudo beaver /opt/.filetool.lst
*** glibc detected *** beaver: munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0xbfae7e64 ***
Aborted

--- End code ---

ps I use PPI

Juanito:
I get this in tc_2.x also.

I recompiled beaver in tc_2.x, but the problem remains. Note that "$ sudo beaver &" will work without error.

On the other hand, JasonW does not see this error in tc_2.x...

Jason W:
Actually I do see the same thing when I do "beaver /opt/.filetool.lst", but it does not happen when you navigate to /opt and do "beaver .filetool.lst".  Same scenario with /home/tc/.xsession.  So the path seems to mess it up perhaps.

curaga:
In these cases I usually check if distros have a patch for it, a list here:
http://oss-security.openwall.org/wiki/distro-patches

Debian doesn't apparently package Beaver, and Gentoo doesn't have any patches, but I didn't look further.

Jason W:
I looked in the Debian archive and beaver was not patched in Debian.  If Debian didn't patch it, then likely nobody did.
