Partclone ?
« on: May 06, 2016, 05:21:37 AM »
Hi there everyone,
I did a search on the forum but found nothing :(
Partclone was available for TinyCore as far as I remember but it looks like it has disappeared from Appbrowser.
It is available for download on here for instance though ...
Any thoughts?

partclone was last available in the x86 tc-4.x repo here:

http://repo.tinycorelinux.net/4.x/x86/tcz/partclone.tcz

You could download it, test it and report back here - if it works, it can be copied to the 7.x repo.

Thanks Juanito for the prompt reply.
I'm booting TinyCore 7 from a usb stick with Grub4Dos. I've got my tce folder accessible from Linux/Windows.
Now, the way I understand some information available on the net, I could just copy partclone.tcz to my /tce/optional directory (provided no dependencies are required) and that should be it.
Well, that's exactly what I did but Partclone doesn't show up :(

You need to copy partclone.tcz, partclone.tcz.dep and partclone.tcz.md5.txt to your tce/optional folder.

From partclone.tcz.dep, you'll see that ntfsprogs is required, so you'll also need ntfsprogs.tcz and ntfsprogs.tcz.md5.txt

If after that nothing happens, try the command "partclone.info" from a terminal window.

Sure, .info files are not downloaded. Use package managers, like ab, tce in command line or the GUI toll to read it.

Sorry bmarkus, although I'm trying hard to understand what you mean but I just can't.
Do you mean I need to download the info files (partclone.tcz.info) or download an app/extension to read the info files ?

It sounds like you did not load the extension after copying it to your tce/optional folder - i.e. "tce-load -i partclone" - you should then be able to execute the "partclone.info" command.

partclone appears to work (as per a very cursory check) - copied to tc-7.x x86 repo.

Well, it is a 6 years old 0.2.12 version while latest 0.2.88 released in March 2016. Would be good to update.
