Kernel 3.8.10-tinycore option request
« on: July 01, 2013, 02:31:56 PM »
Hey guys,

Just wanted to submit a formal request to include the following option into the kernel build for TC5.x

CONFIG_DRM_GMA3600=y

The gma500_gfx module is already built and included in an extension but this specific sub-option was left out. And with it I can finally get modesetting to work on my poulsbo/cedarview/cedartrail POS intel chipset!

Apologies if I should have posted this somewhere else or not at all.

Making such requests is absolutely OK.

However in this case, it is an experimental option, which goes against our policy. Code likely to be buggy or unstable will not be included by default, but it is welcome to the repo if contributed, as in that case it is clear it is not officially supported.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Okay I figured that may be the case when I saw that "experimental" text slapped next to it. I was hoping it may be safe due to Ubuntu including it in their 3.5 kernel.

Btw I'm happy you're writing a TC book. It was definitely needed.
