Help requested for HP printer
« on: May 10, 2013, 07:31:22 PM »
Hi

I am re-investigating my current failure to detect an HP printer connected by usb lead into a router
Actually its a modem/router and normally connected to TC via ethernet cable
My puny attempt at text diagram is

TC______eth cable  _______modem/router___________usb cable__________HP printer

I know the MAC of the TC and the HP.

Can I use this setting for ARP?

As I am not a network expert I prefer to get advice in case I have to open my router up to the world etc

and proof of TC MAC
Code: [Select]
sudo ifconfig eth0
(cull stuff)
Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:21:97:76:2D:DA
          inet addr:192.168.1.100  Bcast:192.168.1.255  Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1

that image is current ARP list there is another page to ADD to that list.

what do you gurus think?

PS with printer turned on, router has green light for USB but cups can't discover it at the moment (for my current skill level)

thanks for reading

2) I have re-editted my solved post as I have now redone wireless to NOT use the WPS button but use WPA2/AES
