Need to add hindi fonts
« on: September 14, 2013, 06:41:50 AM »
Hello,

I have installed tiny core and everything seems ok. But the problem is i am not able to read anything in hindi font.

I tried to download two fonts mangal.ttf and Akshar.ttf and tried adding any one of them at /usr/share/fonts/ the tried restart with backup selected. But after restart no file was there everything removed.

The i tried adding getlocale.tcz and then running getlocale.sh from termonal as root user and then selecting in it
sd_IN@devanagari/UTF-8

but still not able to see hindi fonts on firefox or anywhere else.

Please help

until you get a better reply, did you see this message in your terminal?
Code: [Select]
The extension is at /mnt/sdb1/tce/optional/mylocale.tcz and in onboot.lst
Reboot with lang=xyz (for example lang=sd_IN@devanagari) to start using this

--change /mnt/sdb1 to where ever you have TCE mounted
2) so you have rebooted after verifying your onboot.lst has that TCZ loading?
and you have editted your bootloader .....pretending you use grub  you append to your kernel line
"lang=sd_IN@devanagari" without the quotes

3) now on reboot...open terminal as a local user and try this command and report what you see pls
Code: [Select]
locale
If you don't see then its likely terminal lang won't change.

4)  Firefox is US lang what you need if you can afford the download is to download a specific version tarball
--unpack it in your home folder
click on run wbar icon and try  /home/yourname/firefox/firefox

there are a few Indian types here

good luck

Did you manually add them to your backup list?  I think there's info in the main page or wiki on this.

Did you restart X?  Is it not an option or just not the default?

Hello,

Thanks for your help, it worked after I add usr/share/fonts manually in back up list (/opt/.filetool.lst)

Thanks a lot for your help  ;D

~/.fonts might be a more convenient path.
