Questions about onboot.lst
« on: March 16, 2013, 05:51:18 AM »
Hi

Been reading the wiki in an effort to better understand TC but haven't found any detailed  info on onboot.lst and have some questions about it:

1) When is it read in relation to bootlocal, bootsync and .X.d?

2) What calls onboot.lst?

3) Are the tcz files listed in onboot.lst executed in the order they appear?

4) Can one only specify tcz apps or can a "normal" elf executable also be included/listed?

5) If the answer to the above question is yes, normal apps can be included, then what advantages are there to this as opposed to using bootlocal and bootsync?

Thanks
Paulo.

1) Removing boot code "quiet" while adding "showapps" will show ;)

The key point of onboot.lst its not a list of programs to be executed in a shell like items on bootlocal.sh but to load .tcz extensions in the given order and their dependencies recursively.

Thanks bmarkus, starting to understand the concept of TC and the more I learn about it the more I think it's a great idea.

Hello Paulo!

I think this is useful for you to understand the process of "what call what" in Core:
http://wiki.tinycorelinux.net/wiki:the_boot_process

And the very good diagram: http://tinycorelinux.net/arch_core.html

Where are you from? Paulo looks like a brazilian name!

Hi Zendrael

Thanks for the info.
I'm originally from Portugal, but Brazil is not a bad guess. :)
