Installed software will not launch ?
« on: January 14, 2013, 02:49:48 PM »

Please except my apologies if this has been covered  :-[

I booted TCP 4.7.3 from a CD and then installed to a USB Flash Drive successfully as per instructions, and it boots fine to GUI.

Installed Wireless Tools etc, Chromium23, Firefox 18 and emelFM2 and all put an icon on the WBar and launch with no issues.

I also installed HPLIP and Libre Office and though they are listed in Applications they will not launch, I have a colleague who also undertook installing software with the same issues.

I am obviously undertaking something wrong, but after reading and reading can not find solution, HELP!  :'(

Hi Cloudcentric
Did you read the instructions in the info files?
libreoffice.tcz:

Important Note: This version of libreoffice is compiled with java support.
So you need to add libreoffice.tcz to your onboot.lst and reboot your computer.
If you have sun-jre.tcz in your onboot.lst then you don't need to reboot.
Setting PATH and JAVA_HOME in a terminal does not help.
hplip.tcz:

               howto:
                open http://localhost:631 in a browser
click on "add printer" button and follow instructions
choose a driver of the form "HP Officejet k80, hpcups 3.10.6 (color)"
corresponding to a uri of the form..
                "hp:/usb/OfficeJet_K80?serial=ES0911401VOH"
                ..this should already be shown
click on "print testpage" button to test
