I get this in tc_2.x also.

I recompiled beaver in tc_2.x, but the problem remains. Note that "$ sudo beaver &" will work without error.

On the other hand, JasonW does not see this error in tc_2.x...

Actually I do see the same thing when I do "beaver /opt/.filetool.lst", but it does not happen when you navigate to /opt and do "beaver .filetool.lst".  Same scenario with /home/tc/.xsession.  So the path seems to mess it up perhaps.

In these cases I usually check if distros have a patch for it, a list here:

Debian doesn't apparently package Beaver, and Gentoo doesn't have any patches, but I didn't look further.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

I looked in the Debian archive and beaver was not patched in Debian.  If Debian didn't patch it, then likely nobody did.
