Tiny Core Base > Raspberry Pi
piCore on real hardware
bmarkus:
See below the picture of the first boot into graphics (aka TC) mode on real hardware:
It took 25s starting to power up, which is not bad. On my desktop in QEMU it is 85s.
bmarkus:
HDMI looks better (specially in real life)
All together first impressions are good. I have no keyboard connected, but system is usable with mouse only to read log files, see system stats, etc. I like it
:D

Hello
How super this is. Tiny Core Linux coming to these "arm cpu" based cheap computers.
It seems the perfect marriage because TCL is so small, the computers are low cost.
it will be great to see this Version get a new release that boots right up to the Gui
desktop and has some extensions. Maybe a web browser, ofcourse and others.
i mean RISC OS has been released for the Pi.....weighing in at 100 mega byte with
a few apps in it. It is real fast indeed. But other than RISC OS it's just large 500 megabyte
Linux downloads for the Pi..... which isn't so good. (Tiny core.... 12 megabytes and 2 minutes)

bmarkus:
My development version boots directly to X and looks and behaves like the x86 TC.
Or nearly, because it is using a fullblown Xorg. I'm working to get Xfbdev working. It will offer a real TC-like lite X environment like Xvesa in x86 system. As soon as it works I will release.

Hello
yes that sounds wonderful. This kind of expert work that you are doing to create an
great Operating system for low cost computers is greatly appreciated.
It looks like these STICK styled computers are going crazy now

we have dual core "cortex a9" cpu chips running at 1.6 ghz.......combined with state of
the art GPU quad core "graphics processors" and 1 gig of ram and 8 gigs of SDD [/color.......all nicely boxed with extra spare cables and a power supply ........for 57 dollars?
This computer is about 15 times faster than a Pi......
i mean how soon will it be before they release the Quad core version for like 80 dollars?
These are seriously powerful desktop computing machines now. (in your palm)
Look at the gaming capabilitiy of this Tiny box
