how to add window manager to core
« on: September 19, 2012, 01:44:03 PM »
The wiki page isn't exactly comprehensive on this matter. I've been able to successfully install the core, but I haven't been so successful adding icewm to it. After I had installed the core (by copying the two system files to a /boot directory and setting up grub) I used the application browser to install xlibs, xorg, icewm, and firefox. When I rebooted it resulted in just a blank standard background with the tinycore logo at the center. No mouse cursor and no panel or anything. All I could do was turn off the computer with the power switch. At this point I don't even know how to get it to boot to a command line instead of a dead end GUI background. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to install xorg and icewm over core in a way that I can get to a working desktop.

Thanks. Is there a way to stop the system from booting directly to the GUI so that  I can install xprogs?

Hi gojirasan
Use the  text  boot code, you'll wind up at the console.
