On that previous chain Curaga says that graphics package is on Xorg- package!

Confusing...

3-D is not loaded (not meant to be loaded, to be exact)

Hi Yleisajattelija
My mistake, graphics is a dependency of the Intel driver. I must have clicked on the wrong driver when I
checked the dependencies.

Hmm...

When I was young, serious 3D coders lived more close hermia than tel aviv. And seems that Xvesa is not dead.

If so, this problem is HD2000 small rendering memory issue. Is HD3000 only solution or will DZ68DB BIOS update help?

Wider Xvesa screen format may help, I think.

i read in the russian version of this manual http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel
that perhaps need to try add option i915.modeset=1 to the kernel boot parameters
to force enable kernel mode setting which is required to run x and desktop environment
and it is important that at the same time do not need use parameters vga=... and nomodeset
this not present in english edition

Lets make some rude guessing:

If that above is the generic way to expand BIOS screen resolutions, it may work (because as far as I know, 915 is nothing to do with HD2000).

First logical idea is simply to make new copy of that BIOS code and use it. If it is not possible, reason is probably security problems with Xvesa, some one-way door installed after kernel boot -> BIOS copy cannot used. On that case, besides that trick BIOS update is the only correct way, if that not works then HD3000.

Loaded xf86-video-intel.tcz and Xorg-7.6.tcz from distro.ibiblio.org and analog clock is round again.

Thanks!

P. S several sync problems with mirror sites
