Problems after installing Tiny Core
« on: August 25, 2012, 04:34:38 AM »
I have installed Tiny Core on a 4Gb Class 10 Micro SD Card

It boots up but it goes over to the bash and stays there.

Is there anything I can do to get it into the gui.

thanks

Try "xsetup".

BTW, the default shell is ash (busybox applet).

You didn't mention how and what exactly you installed...
Looks like the GUI components may not be present.

I installed tiny core through another usb memory reader.

I used a multi memory card reader and it had tiny core on one card and another card to install it too.

I used YUMI on windows to put tiny core onto the card to boot from.

Check it is really Tiny Core and not Core which comes with no GUI.

YUMI, is that a third party installer? Please use core2usb in that case.

If its made from an iso image and boots to prompt, the transfer to USB went fine.
Im on bmarkus side here, believing it might not be tiny but micro core you installed, but to answer your question the X server is started with the command "X", with no arguments it starts on display 0:0 which is also the default startup display for you GUI's. it could look something like this:
$X && openbox && xterm
