Core Plus 4.2. icons to wbar
« on: January 06, 2012, 01:18:28 PM »
Hello guys!

Yesterday i started to use Tiny Core (4.2) for my first time and i like it very much!
But i have problems to add icons to my wbar.
I tried this description: wiki.tinycorelinux.net/wiki:creating_personal_icons and more.
After tce-load i get the message that it was loaded but i cant see the icon.
And i have problems to move the extension to my personal repo with this command: cat /opt/.tce_dir.
I have only the directory /opt/tcemirror - and cat /opt/tcemirror dont work.

I installed rdesktop with the AppBrowser and write a file with this lines:
rdesktop xxx -d xxx -f -a 16
Now i would like to add a icon to the wbar to just click on it and use the rdesktop.

Please give me a little step by step description - i am not a linux specialist :/.

Thank you!

Best regards from Austria!
Phil

4.2 does not have /opt/.tce_dir.  Read the release Announcement.

Unless the extension supplies an icon for wbar, there won't be one.
There have been several threads on wbar icons. Try searching for them.
There is also some information in the wiki.

With your second link it works!
Thank you a lot!

I have another question:
I arrange the icons with the command wbarconf and after a system reboot i have a other order.
What can i do?

Are they in alphabetical order?

no... the icon RDP comes before Chromium.
RDP is ondemand loaded and Chromium by boot - maybe thats the problem?

Core is a very dynamic system. You are expecting a typical static system.
You would have to disable the dynamic interface files for wbar by path overriding them possibly in ~/.local/bin
Unless your target is a static appliance otherwise that defeats the whole purpose of choosing a very dynamic system like Core.

ok, thanks for the information!
i think now i understand the system :).
i solved the problem... i have written a little startscript witch remove the tce.icons file in /usr/local and copy the correct one from ~/.local/bin to /usr/local.

i have one last question:
is it possible to remove the wbar background and set it to transparent?

thanks a lot!

Hello Phil ,

I have been trying to add a FreeRDP icon to my wbar. Seems you did the same some time back. Did you get it working ? If you did can you suggest how you did it ?

Thanks!
