Yes, according to this post http://serverfault.com/questions/87577/is-it-possible-to-run-mercurial-without-ssl-installed mercurial needs the _ssl.so module from python.tcz, which is probably linked against openssl-1.0.0.tcz (I didn't check that manually though). Added openssl-1.0.0.tcz to mercurial.tcz.dep, thanks for the pointer!
