Installing Tiny Core after installing Core Plus
« on: July 03, 2013, 07:41:03 PM »
Hello,
I just want to switch to Tiny Core from Core plus. I installed Core plus onto my laptops hard drive but it has too much stuff. So I installed Tiny Core onto a usb. When I boot up using the USB though it loads the files off of the hard drive. thus disabling me to use TC-Install. I am not sure why it boots the files I am 100 percent sure that the boot loader in use is the one from the USB. Thanks

Use the tce= boot option to specify the USB drive partition.
Did you also remember to add the waitusb=5 boot option?

If you need wireless support you are probably better off using the Apps utility to remove any apps and drivers
you don't need.
CorePlus is basically Tinycore plus wireless drivers. If you boot without the  tce=  boot code the computer is scanned
and the first  tce  directory found is used.

I was thinking that it would be faster to just reinstall, but you do make a point. I had thought that it added other things such as non us keyboard layouts and multiple desktops.

@shadowrift: You’re right, it might have installed non-US things. Just delete mylocale.tcz and getlocale.tcz and you’re done with this “problem”.

I just reread the CorePlus description and it does include those items. If disk space is tight, you can remove the unused
items, otherwise they don't have any effect on the system.
