« on: August 10, 2025, 07:14:39 PM »
Hello everyone
I need to use linux for the first time, to repair something in stupid windows
I standartly downloaded tiny core with visual environment, that jas weight 20+ MB, сant look now and remamber exaclty, put files from iso on usb, and booted from usb, having that there is no OS on usb, and there is nothing to boot

Sorry for such a dumb question, but i searched everywhere, but still could not find how to start ><

How to boot os from usb, without installing it, to just operate with files on disk without windows interfere? How to get started?
I will be extremely helpful to you if you help (i never used linux before)

If you have NTFS file system in your hard drive  it could be difficult to cooperate with TCL that is on pendrive. TCL was designed to be installed on small removable media. Not in NTFS hard drive.

Best oprion: buy small pendrive only for TCL. Then install it using grub4dos. Or Rufus (microcore.iso only).

If you want to test only, use virtulbox or CD-R.

If you simply copied the contents of the ISO to a USB drive, your problem is most likely that your drive is not bootable.Reformat you USB drive to FAT32 then use Rufus to copy the files and make the USB drive bootable.
