hi friends,

thank you for providing fbpanel in the repository... nice work.
it's fun to use it and the configuration is not difficult.
but fbpanel works fine without Xorg, just xvesa.
would you mind to remove the dependency for Xorg,
because on some systems Xorg make problems that can be avoided with xvesa?
to keep tinycore lean and stable, it would be nice to use fbpanel just with xvesa, too.

thank you for your help in advance.

ex-martin said to have done but effectively it is not show in appbrowser but: http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/4.x/x86/tcz/fbpanel.tcz is there!

also clamtk it is show in update page http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/4.x/updates/updatelist.txt but do not in appbrowser (like its dependency).

perhaps the repository needs a controlled

hi gerald_clark,

i have read the announcement and installed it by cli:

tce-load -wi fbpanel

everything works fine, but in my minimal, functional configuration the Xorg-dependency bloats the whole system without any urgent need.
so according to the philosophy of tinycore, it should be possible to
configure an installation so lean and stable as possible.

Hey, fbpanel and clamtk is found by ab and tce-load but not for appbrowser!

Someone else will have to take over maintenance of xzgv, xterm, xtrans, rp-pppoe and the recently submitted fbpanel in the repository, because I wont be anymore.
I think that we can proceed without seeking permission from the packager

I contact AbNoRMiS for his latest package with corrupted dep, I started to download clamtk but it stopped, I hope that once he adjusted the dependencies I can also adjust my tce directory whit an dep and package update.
Please gerald inform the proper authorities for this problem with appbrowser!

I have nothing to do with extension submissions.
You can PM repository maintainers gutmensch or JasonW.

fbpanel.tcz.dep Xorg adjusted to Xorg-lib. This may not be needed either, but I wouldn't know.

Slightly OT, but for those who still wonder why one can download an extension that is not listed in the 'appbrowser' the explanation is pretty simple: the extensions listed in 'appbrowser' are from a file called 'info.lst' (or rather 'info.lst.gz') that is stored where all the "*.tcz*" files are stored in the repository (and could therefore be downloaded also via tce-fetch.sh info.lst).

Now, when new extensions are added their names should be added to 'info.lst' as well. Right now this has not been done for those that were added in the last 24h, but I'm sure this update will happen pretty soon and then things will be again in sync.

@maro thanks for elucidated, but there is a discrepancy, why the same file was not found by appbrowser but it is found with ab ?  and then there was fbpanel that was some time in the repository.

@jason what was the problem?

Part of our routine we run when uploading stuff is what what makes that info.lst.  From time to time, it may not get run, and then when it gets run the next time all is well.

hi dear friends, hello Jason W

would you mind, if i bring this thread back to its topic:
again, fbpanel doesn't need the dependency of Xorg-7.6.
indeed Xorg-7.6 is a pretty heavy dependency and can cause problems
on some hardware or in some configurations...
so i think it should be recommended to exclude this dependency, if there are no urgent reasons for this dependency.

hello Jason W,
would you mind to adjust the dep-file of fbpanel?
i guess it makes a big difference for several purposes...
f.e. i wouldn't mind to load fbpanel in a lean xvesa-configuration,
but to load fbpanel on the base of xorg would be for my configurations useless.

thank you for your cooperation and teamwork.

@netnomad jason has read so now he knows it surely, however as say gerald, gutmensch is now the maximum eminence for the tcz repository  ;)

@jason and why ab and appbrowser provided different results?

Heh, I'm being skipped? ;) The dep file is fixed, see reply #7.
