rdesktop installing problems
« on: January 23, 2012, 11:26:39 AM »
Hi,

I'm pretty new here. I'm onkel_seppl (uncle Joseph) from Germany. In the moment I try several small Linux OS for old PC which are working as a RDP client for a Windows terminalserver.
I found Tiny Core Linux and I like it.
So far.

I installed firefox via App browser and it works. It is shown at the Wbar (picture)

Further I found the Remote client and installed it. The status shows --> ok after installing (picture)
My problem is that the new software is not shown at Wbar, so I can't start it.

Please help.
Thank you.

BR
Joe

rdesktop is a command-line program. See xdrdesktop.tcz for a GUI.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

OK
I'm back
It doesn't work correct

The command line *before connect* of XDrdesktop show
 -f -u 'firstname.secondname' -d 'companyname' -r sound:local -l -5 -T  XDrdesktop  192.168.5.5
No login to Terminalserver possible!!

If I remove some items at command line
 -f -u 'firstname.secondname' -d 'companyname' -r sound:local -l -5 -T  XDrdesktop  192.168.5.5
then I can access to Terminalserver

How can I change the settings?
By clicking at XDrdesktop there is no chance to remove some items.

Hope you understand what I mean.

BR
Joe

Well, you could either edit xdrdesktop (it's a script, IIRC), or start rdesktop from the command line with known-working arguments. Perhaps create a script for connecting to your specific server?

Hi again :-)

I checked at internet some sites.
Then I made a small script as you said.
After this I made the file executable.
The name is e.g. ts1.companyname.de

After this I open RUNProgram button (FLRun Application Launcher) and searched this file and pressed ok.

I had access to Terminalserver Screen. Fine!

I have  3 further questions...

1
But how I can this file put it on the wbar?
With AppBrowser and then press local it doesn't work.

2
Or is there a chance to copy the file to Desktop?
The file is lying now in a directory called /home/tc/Desktop but not seen on desktop!

3
Is there a chance to start this file automatically after start up Tiny Core Linux?

Tks for help
Joe

1) Please read the wiki, and do a search here. In short, either create an extension, or use the ondemand mechanism.

2) You need something that provides icons. Rox, pcmanfm...

3) Yes, see the FAQ (how to start X items on boot)
