Cups cannot print PDF file
« on: January 20, 2012, 08:47:36 AM »
Dear Lazy Web,

I'm trying to print a PDF file on a USB printer Zebra LP 2844. It works fine under debian but if I try and use TinyCore I get the message :

Client Message :-

lp: Unsupported format 'application/pdf'

Server Error Message :-

Returning IPP client-error-document-format-not-supported for Send-Document

This implies that something is missing or not configured the same on the Tiny Core package.

I think it might have something to do with the pdftops command from the poppler utils. Does the CUPS binary need to be recompiled with --with-pdftops? Or do I just need to fix the CUPS config files (mimetypes).

Regards,

Simon

Thanks Juanito,

As soon as I posted this I looked for similar posts on the forum and concluded the same thing.

I loaded up ghostscript and it worked like a charm :-) Many thanks and sorry for wasting a little of your time.

I must remember to search the forums before posting to them.

Regards,

Simon
