There isn't.
The X is not displayed during boot.
The X is the cursor for the X server and does not appear until X is started.
Once the window manager is loaded, it replaces the X cursor with its own.

Did you install one?
Does it show up in 'losetup' ?
Does it show up in /tmp/tcloop?
What is the contents of /etc/sysconfig/desktop?
