The wiki uses OLD information. Madwifi is deprecated (replaced by ath5k). ath5k and ath9k (9k is for 802.11n cards), along with b43, are in the kernel since at least 2.6.27. This means the cards should work automagically.

The info is current for TC, which happens to have the kernel 2.6.26 currently.

..and at least the b43 module will not work automagically as it needs the broadcom firmware to work.
