kexec support in new kernel
« on: December 08, 2011, 01:27:01 PM »
I was just curious if TCL 4.x's new Linux kernel (3.0.3) supports kexec. If so, when was it added? Thanks, trying to leverage a solution where I can directly boot into Windows from TCL (probably with the help of grub.exe) without a reboot.

EDIT: I don't think it is or else this project would probably not exist: http://netbootcd.tuxfamily.org/. That seems to add it to the kernel. I think it can be very useful to add to the TCL base to leverage this type of functionality.

You're right, we don't have kexec support currently.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Thanks. No plans to add it any time soon correct?

Not in this cycle. Will consider for 5.x.
