tango:
/etc/network.conf on a debian based system such as finnix ??? You should look better, cant find this kind of file on Debian.
"udev.conf is unmodified from a standard udev install" ??? Can you untar the udev source and look better, udev.conf have comments and one line (udev_log="err"). SliTaz udev package provide a custom config:
http://hg.slitaz.org/wok/file/tip/udev/stuff/udev.conf witch is the same used in TC.
"For nsswitch.conf, you might want to take a look at LFS also, there's the exact same conf, only the spacing and comment differing." Yes but TC use to one from SliTaz or exctaly the same line by line, funny no ?
And yes "Same boot process" with similar option (kmap=) and function (usleep_progress). Even if one line have been taken from SliTaz, the copyright notice should have a reference.

OK, I was wrong about udev.conf; sorry about that. I do remember messing with a file /etc/network.conf on a box of mine, and I'm sure it wasn't running Slitaz. Could have been CLFS.
On option names, that would be a bit on the silly side, of course people are going to come up with similar short names for the same things (keymaps in this case, commonly abbreviated as kmap).
