TinyCore black screen on old laptop
« on: October 22, 2011, 09:01:03 AM »
I have downloaded TinyCore 4.0.2 Multicore ISO.  Works fine in Virtual Box. But not on my laptop.
If i add "mc" in parameters tiny core bots up in console fine.
If i pres <enter> or insert "plus" or "tc" parameter bunch of errors show up. After while i get dark screen on which i can write text but noting else happens.
Some screens. (sorry for blurry photos)

If i press Ctrl+Alt+Del system shuts down normally. (Terminating process... etc)
If i press Alt+F2 i get another empty screen. With Alt+F1 i go back on previous screen.
vga=971 etc works fine - i can select any resolution which my laptop supports (Tridient 2.5MB).
Laptop is old 400 MHz 128MB 6GB.
I have one 5.5GB ext4 bootable and 0.500GB SWAP partition.

Here is some video 320x240 40Mb :  View My Video

I gather you have two issues, failing hw, and graphics that does not like Xvesa. For the latter, see the FAQ and wiki on how to use Xfbdev. Xorg might also be a solution.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.
