hi friends,

i'm using the midnight-commander for many hours a day:
i use it on different platforms,
in terminals, screens, per ssh, even in embedded systems.
in short words, i could not imagine an it-life without the midnight-commander.
by the years i improved the speed of usage that people, that watch me see only flying windows...

the update of mc broke many important shortcuts and broke so much functionality!
what happened!?
do you see there a chance to restore the old shortcut file or perhaps
do you see there a chance just to merge both!?
chmod, chown, symlink and so on, have no shortcut anymore!
before i used to strg-x-o for chown and strg-x-h for chmod, both are  just one-step-actions,
now i have to start the menu with F9, then F and then o, this is a three-step-action!!!
i guess it should be possible to keep the old shortcuts and add new ones
that seem to offer functionality for beginners?!
why is there no beginner- and advanced-user-mode like in vlc or xmms?
please help, it breaks so many workflows...
thank you for your help in advance!

This is not a broken functionality but a change of default shortcuts in upstream. It is configured in mc.keymap file located in /usr/local/etc/mc

Place a copy in ~/.mc and edit to match your requirements (mc must be restarted). You may try using the old version too, see attached 4.7.0.2 default keymap.
