Swap file and audio recording
« on: March 08, 2012, 09:07:55 AM »
Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good overview of tc swapfiles. I'm currently using qtractor with tc to record music. My computer probably needs more ram for this, but it seems to be working ok. If i look at top, I am sometimes using up to 75% of memory, although cpu is generally low. would a swapfile help? does tc use a swap file by default? Thanks in advance for any help

Seeing 75% RAM is not a problem. It is not used by you but the system. LINUX is clever enough not to waste RAM. Usually it is a cache. Just seeing low percentage of free RAM in 'top' or 'free' doesn't justify need for more physical RAM.
