It's cool and "cool"

Introducing (cool and "cool") the "Age of Tiny":

I found interesting that this company are using the word "tiny" in its new products...
It seems that NOT only Robert is thinking "tiny"... it's the age of "tinyness"... lol...

[ tiny microSD / usb adapter ]

This is really cool...

Buffalo Technology, now part of Mitsubishi Electric (melco) have something very interesting for the TinyCore Linux...

They call it: microUSB (do not confused it with microSD),
we can call it, Tiny Core L2-BIOS... lol...

Level 2 BIOS...

Just started to play with the idea of a "level 2 BIOS"...

Did some basic prototypes, just putting pieces together...

...well, Powered By (the Moldability of) TinyCore...

The mounting based on UUID put everything at another level...

a bootloader you mean. in all fairness, the modularity of linux makes a tc-based bootloader unnecessary.

you could make one anyway.

I'm just wandering if a netbook Atom ONLY with a usbkey with Tinycore and with HD detached can run longer with one battery charge...?

At least in theory, it should give some extras minutes...

An usb stick uses about 1W when writing, 0.1W when idle. A notebook HD uses about the same when idle and about 3W when writing. Yeah, in theory some minutes, but in practise, lowering the screen brightness to the lowest will save more.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

I just picked up a 4 GB Dane-Elec micro SD-HC card (@ K-Mart, $11.xx, comes with adapter for regular sized SD card slot -and- a tiny USB reader similar to the Buffalo and Transcend pictured above).

Of the course the first thing I did was grub it and load TC 1.2.  Seems to work perfectly.

I suppose its time to bite the bullet and undertake the long and arduous task of upgrading to TC 1.4.1.  That should take almost as long as typing this paragraph.  :)
