An usb stick uses about 1W when writing, 0.1W when idle. A notebook HD uses about the same when idle and about 3W when writing. Yeah, in theory some minutes, but in practise, lowering the screen brightness to the lowest will save more.

I just picked up a 4 GB Dane-Elec micro SD-HC card (@ K-Mart, $11.xx, comes with adapter for regular sized SD card slot -and- a tiny USB reader similar to the Buffalo and Transcend pictured above).

Of the course the first thing I did was grub it and load TC 1.2.  Seems to work perfectly.

I suppose its time to bite the bullet and undertake the long and arduous task of upgrading to TC 1.4.1.  That should take almost as long as typing this paragraph.  :)
