Fonts look quite bad
« on: July 07, 2011, 09:44:43 AM »
Is there something I can do to make fonts look a bit better than they do?

This picture is of chromium browser on tinycore on an old thinkpad t23.

Hi bmarkus, I couldnt make the picture big enough to show all the screen, but if you look at the location text on the browser some of the letters are ...hmm, "swollen" in places.

I used to have zenwalk linux on that computer, and I had to change a few things, in some dialog somewhere, I forget now... todo with sub pixel hinting and anti aliasing and so on, it made the fonts look "smoother".

That is how the Luxi family looks. If you prefer another font, just set that as the one to use in Chromium.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.
