So far the only thing I've successfully used in dosbox is PCPaint, which I wanted to try because it was my first experience with digital art.  I downloaded a game called argh, but it didn't work for me.  Apart from that it seemed like a lot of DOS programs are still commercial for some bizarre reason.

the freedos project began in june 1994, i heard about it around 2000. there have never been too many people interested in both dos and free software, all things being relative, presumably that's why it took 12 years to reach 1.0. most of the free software crowd is about linux. which would you rather develop in? that's not a diss though, i wish there were lots more floss projects for dos. but without the interest from enough people, who's going to write them? great to have dosbox though.
