HP Deskjet 1000 j110a hplip-3.11.5
« on: June 27, 2011, 04:21:27 PM »
I just bought a new HP Printer "HP Deskjet 1000 j110a". I heard from a little bird that HP Printers are well supported by linux..........

I downloaded CUPS and hplip-2.7.tcz from the appbrowser but my printer driver is NOT on the list. Is there anybody that can instruct me on how to install the most updated version of hplip?

Or can it pleaseeeeeee be updated in the appbrowser "even better".

Thanks, George

hplip-2.7 is at 3.10.6 and your printer requires at least 3.10.9

Give me a couple of days and I'll have a look at updating hplip to 3.11.5

Let me know how you get on.

I've been trying but with NO LUCK, hmmmmm, it doesn't do anything at all when I click print test page. I get an error under state that says "/usr/local/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed"

Thanks for trying though and I understand that you are busy traveling at the moment, I'm just happy to get the help. I will happily wait.....

Thanks, George

EDIT: I downloaded ghostscript_common.tcz from the appbrowser and placed it in the onboot.lst and now my printer WORKS!!! Haha, thanks to you for updating hplip-2.7.tcz and ghostscript_common.tcz

So now in on-boot  I have cups.tcz, hplip-2.7.tcz, ghostscript.tcz and then ghostscript_common.tcz. Not sure if I need them all in onboot.lst but I'll figure it out.

FUNNY thing is hahahaa that I've been working on it for about 5 hrs "or more!" and I've been downloading different extensions and uninstalling and re-instailling , rebooting, googling, searching the forums, "going nuts" lol but since I just bought this printer and it's my 1st printer infact, "I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THE LITTLE DOOR WAS OPEN ON IT" Hahaha, but ummmm, yeah now I do. ; ) so i I only closed that little door 5 hrs ago, I would have been done. errrrr

Thanks for all your help and going out of your way to update hplip for me, enjoy your travel bud.

Thanks, George

Juanito or anybody else, any idea how I can get rid of this warning at start up? udevd1731 sysfs ()=will be removed in the future udev version, please ATTR ()= To watch the event device or ATTRS to match the parent device in /etc/udev /rules.d/55-hpmud.rules
"Said something like that" I think I got it all.

It repeats that about 100 times "I'm guessing" but it repeats it very fast right after the tinycore boot items load during X and before the desktop shows.

I know that it's due to hplip and I tried to put hplip in ondemand but when I did that my printer wouldn't work even after clicking hplip from ondemand.

"I understand that it's NOT harmful in any way but it's extremely annoying. "

Thanks, George

This is caused by one of the udev rules that comes with hplip.

I was tempted to fix it at the time I built the extension, but not having a suitable printer to test with, I let it go.

It's going to be about a week until I'll be reunited with the printer..

In fact I managed to figure out a way to test it - updated version posted.

I changed sysfs -> attrs, but I'm not totally sure whether this should be attr or attrs, maybe udevmeister Curaga could comment?

I don't know if it should be ATTR or ATTRS but I would guess ATTRS "not that a guess matters" but I just updated it and it's working like a charm now! "No errors anymore". Thanks Juanito

Yes, attrs looks correct. Gentoo, Arch, and Ubuntu also did that. This may be necessary to do if the udev for 4.x has dropped that, but HP says they use the older name to support older distros.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.
