The new improved installer is a great improvement to Tiny Core.

But it is not working properly.

I successfully installed Tiny Core on a usb drive using rc1, from a computer with many extensions installed.

I have been trying to install Tiny Core on a hard drive using rc2, and it is not working properly.

I am running rc2 from a cd.

I have syslinux, dosfstools, and the rc2 iso on a usb drive.

I use install local to install syslinux and dosfstools before installation.

I am trying to install to an ext3 partition on the hard drive.

When I run the installer, it says successfully installed, but in reality it is not.

See if this can be reproduced.

First thanks for taking time to test this new feature.
It would be most helpful if you could tell me what options you used.
During the release cycle, I am writing the selected options to /tmp/install.opt
If you still have that file please post its contents.

If you are selecting frugal, you will likely need to either
1. Install  and/or configure a bootloader of your choice.
- or -
2. Simply mark the installed partition as active.

Note: That if using the whole disk, USB-HDD can be used for hard drives.
With frugal, I am indeed being frugal, in that I am doing little more than optionally formating and then copying and setup files.

Just tested Frugal ext3.
Using whole disk works as expected.

Using an existing disk with several partitions and selecting a partition.
Fails only when the target partition is not set as active or boot loader is not adjusted,

Since there is a plethora of boot loaders, the install script does not attempt to automate any adjustments.

Marking the partition active results in a successful boot.

I have now successfully installed it.

Where it says "Select File for tinycore," I was selecting the .iso file. I have discovered, I need to select the tinycore.gz file.

It did go through the entire installation process, as if it was successfully installing Tiny Core. But then it was not installed properly.

No doubt others will also get caught on this, so it may be a good idea to modify the installer to prevent this happening.

Maybe you could say "Select tinycore.gz file."

Also have it not go through the entire installation process, when something is not right.

I hope my experience leads to an improved installer.
