How do I enable an automatic dependencies installation?
« on: January 19, 2011, 12:21:07 AM »
Hello to everyone! First of all I want to say that I'm amazed at how fast this distro is. I love how configurable is it too! I'm installing some applications but it's getting hard as their dependencies are not automatically installed (so I have to install them one by one), is there a way to not doing this manually?

Also, I have one more issue: I installed tint2 and then bmpanel, but when the applications windows are maximized they overlap the panels (they don't respect their space). Am I doing something wrong or doing this is not possible?

Thanks in advance  :)!!

Note: Excuse me for my English I'm not a native speaker!

If you install with the App Browser, dependencies are automatically installed.
Many people see what is. Some people see what can be, and make a difference.

Hey Guy! Thanks for the quick answer. I'm using the AppBrowser application, what I do is the following:
- Use the "Search" box in order to find the wanted application.
- Click the application name in the "Select Extension" list.
- Choose the installation mode (e.g. "On demand").
- Click on the "Go" button.

After that, I use the" AppAudit" application:
- Click on the "Dependencies" entry menu.
- Click on the "Update .dep files" entry.
- Click on the "Build Reporting Dependencies" entry.
- Click on the "Display All with Missing dependencies".

Then all the missing dependencies are displayed in the "Results" screen. So I have to install them one by one in order to make the application work.

Any ideas?  :)

hello Tarkus,

The OnDemand option will let you run this app from the popup menu (one click on the desktop):
PopUpMenu > OnDemand Option> YourApp.
that's it

Hi frimical! Thanks for the answer, but that was not what I was looking for xD!

My dependencies problem has been solved! I'm working on VMWare, I restarted the whole program and there were no more problems  :D!

Does anyone knows what can I do to make tint2 or bmpanel work? As they get overlapped by maximized windows and they don't show the opened applications either!

hello Tarkus,

I'm happy that you've already resolved your dependencies problem.
It was nice to mention it in order to avoid useless traffic and superfluous answers.

For the problem you mentionned afterwards, please open another thread, with an adequate title.

regards
