Did you specify "s"?

Code: [Select]
xset s 60

xset works for me.
One thing I found is there might be a couple layers depending on what you're trying to set.  I was trying to turn off the screensaver/blanking. To test which layer, I used different time outs to identify the actor involved. Then I was able to figure out who was blanking the screen. Turns out X DPMS and the X Screensaver were both doing it.
