Cannot read audio CD, but data CD
janxjan:
Hallo,
first sorry for my bad English. It is a school English from many years ago.
I installed TCL a few days ago and things are going fine. But I have one problem. My CD-drive is hdc. When I mount it with a data-CD inside, everything works OK. But with a audio-CD (*.wav) I get en error message:
mounting /dev/hdc on mnt/hdc failed. Input/output error.
There is no difference, if I mount it in bash or with the mountig device. My PC is a desktop.
I can play *.wav files from a USB stick or a HD. I think, there is something to adjust. Can anybody tell me what?
Thanks
Jan
PS: I am a Linux beginner
tinypoodle:
audio CD's can not be mounted, as opposed to data CD's.
Do not confuse *.wav, which is a format for audio data files.
In order to play audio CD's you need any program capable to do so, which would address /dev/hdc directly.
gerald_clark:
Audio CDs are not mountable. You may be able to play them with an audio player such as Mplayer.
janxjan:
Hallo,
I installed "deadbeef" but the same error massege occurs. Mplayer works better?
Jan
gerald_clark:
deadbeef all.cda
Audacious works well too.
