persistence

I am having some trouble setting up a persistent tce file and was hoping I could get some help.

my set up is as follows: tiny core running on a usb stick (sdb1).

I would like to maintain all of my extensions on sdb1. I have created /sdb1/tce/optional I have also gone to control panel and set sdb1 as the tce file.

Extensions I have in the sdb1/tce/optional file don't load at startup. They are in the boot.lst. I think these problems are because sdb1 doesn't mount at startup, so tiny core is unable to load/locate the tce dir.

I have tried to make sdb1 load at startup by editing /etc/fstab and removing noauto for sdb1 but this has failed to work.
Also applications that I have downloaded are failing to be saved in sdb1 even tho when I shutdown sdb1 backup is selected.

Any thoughts?

There are plenty threads about this already.

However, it sounds like you need to edit your menu.lst
I think it is located in /mnt/sdb1/boot/grub/menu.lst

gerald_clark:
Add waitusb=5 to your boot options.
If that doesn't work, try 10.

hellomoto:
I am using unetbootin so I have no menu.lst

I am only able to edit the boot options in syslinux.cfg

I have tried waitusb=5 and 10 and 15 no luck.

The /etc/fstab is set sdb1 to noauto, thus it won't auto mount.

The tce file is in the root of sdb, but due to having to mount this manually it won't load at startup.

How do I edit my fstab file in such a way that it will retain the changes and automount /sdb1

hellomoto:
I have tried waitusb=15 and now my sdb1 drive automounts.

thankyou, please tell me how I mark this thread as solved?
