Good morning:

Looking for suggestions.

I am trying to use gnome with TC3.0 alpha3.  All extensions appear to load OK. However When gnome tries to come up, I get the following message:

"The configuration defaults for GNOME power manager have not been installed correctly. Please consult your sys administrator."

The boot then defaults to a crippled flwm. Only way out is manual power down.

The contents of /tmp/wm_errors are:

IceTransmkdir: ERROR: euid != 0,directory /tmp/.ICE-unix will not be created.
gnome-session[8900]: WARNING: keycode1 not existant

I have not tried on tc2.11

Any suggestions, much appreciated.

Thx and best regards,

sci_fi

Is max_loop=256 still necessary (required as the info states) under Tiny Core 3?  I remember reading (http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=5949.0) that this was no longer the case.

I installed this on a 2gig flash drive and am now wondering what to replace the 'flwm-topside' in 'desktop=flwm-topside' with in syslinux.cfg to boot with gnome.

desktop= is only necessary if you have loaded more than one window manager.

Well apparently it installed more than one, because that line is present. I want to know how to get Tiny Core to boot into GNOME. To be honest, I know more about Tiny Core's inner workings than I care to admit, but I have no idea about how to deal with these UIs. I assume I have to add some kind of boot code to syslinux?

That line is present because you put it there, not because you are installing multiple window managers.
I don't believe gnome is available.

[suspicious]1. I did not add that bootcode, that was placed in by default. I installed to USB via USB-HDD.
2. I downloaded this package in assumption that it would allow me to operate Tiny Core Linux using the GNOME DE. Is this incorrect?

If I am wrong, please tell me instead of insulting me.[/suspicious]

I wont take a chance on "insulting" you any further.
