ath9k wireless driver for AR2427 (on eeepc 1001p)

(1/1)

mwoodruff:
I've been using TC for a while on my 2002-vintage Thinkpad R31, and it works flawlessly :)

I recently got an eee 1001p, and under TC2.11 I've been having some trouble getting the wireless to work.  lspci indicates that the wireless device is 168c:002c.  Some googling revealed that this is the AR2427 wireless card, and it's supported in recent ath9k drivers.  Before I spend too much time trying to build the driver myself, has anybody already built it?

(I've tried to build the driver and run into problems, but I was able to verify that compat-wireless-2010-05-17 supports the card by looking at ath9k/hw.h.  Another interesting footnote is that under TC3 alpha 3, Fn+F2 toggles the wireless antenna, or at least the indicator LED.  Under TC2.11, Fn+F2 has no effect.)

Did you try installing the wireless extension for the version of TinyCore you're using? For the record, ath9k is listed in the wireless-2.6.33.3-tinycore.tcz extension for TinyCore 3 (still alpha testing), and in the wireless-2.6.29.1-tinycore.tcz extension for TC 2.x.

@lucky13: Thanks for your response!  I've tried the wireless-2.6.29.1 drivers, however I think they're too old.  It looks like the current 2.6.29.1 drivers were built 11 April, 2009.  I downloaded the compat-wireless tarball from wireless.kernel.org from that day, and inspected the headers.  Unlike the ones I was trying to build (from 17 May, 2010), these do not include the AR2427 card that I'm trying to use.

I will try the wireless-2.6.33.3 extension under alpha 3 and report back.  Thanks again for your help!

I am very pleased to report that wireless works on the eee 1001p under TC3 alpha 3, and I'm using it to write this post!  Wireless-2.6.33.3 contains a recent enough version of ath9k to support the AR2427.
