help! some graphic programs won't start
« on: March 15, 2010, 02:01:31 PM »
I know there are other programs that do something similar but for example when I do:

$ pinball

I get:

Initing SDL

0 joysticks were found.
Failed to initialize TTM buffer manager.  Falling back to classic.
[intel_init_bufmgr:500] Error initializing buffer manager.
X Error of failed request:  BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request:  151 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request:  3 (X_GLXCreateContext)
Serial number of failed request:  29
Current serial number in output stream:  30

I don't know what resources it's talking about.  I have plenty of ram, VM, etc...

glxgears does the same thing although it *used* to work not that long ago.

I've attached the output from my xdpyinfo if that help.  glxinfo just returns the error message above. Anything else you need to see (xorg.conf?)

P.S. flash and mplayer work fine.

P.P.S. see my other posts here in case the problems are related.

Do you have Intel graphics hardware? It looks like the known bug in current Xorg version which prohibits to run for example Google Earth with the same error message.

yeah, it's:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03)

but it was running great just a little while ago. I installed a bunch of other stuff.  I've attached a reverse time sorted directory listing of my tce directory if anyone can see something that I might have installed that would interfere with the glx stuff.
