gparted and vista ntfs

I used tc and the latest gparted and ntfsprogs to repartition the hd of a machine using vista and ntfs yesterday.

Although repartitioning completed without errors, the machine would not boot and complained that /Windows/System32/winload.exe was missing or corrupted.

According to the office IT dudes, this is a common problem with gparted/vista ntfs and was cured by using the "repair" option on the vista installation dvd after which "chkdisk" runs and then you're good to go.

..just in case anybody else has the same problem.

Can you explain why you use ntfs?
Or windows?
And at the same time using the superior Linux?

nice. "according" means... you didn´t try yourself it works? or can you confirm this?

I did try it and it worked  :)

Gparted is not able to successfully repartition (or resize) partition with Vista or Windows 7.  It is a known issue. The only software that is capable of this is Acronis Disk Manager, starting with certain release.
If GParted is used, it breaks Vista and needs to be repaired.
Another way to resize Vista partition is from within Vista to shrink partition, but it allows only some shrinking, depending on size, it insists on leaving lots of unused space.
