shiretoko not found

(1/2) > >>

alanl:
I`ve just updated to 2.7.  Both minefield and shiretoko won`t
start....."file not found".  I removed them from folder and used
the apbrowser to get the latest version of shiretoko.  Same
result!  Tmp/tcloop shows.....usr/local/firefox and it seems
to be all there.

Guy:
How did you update?

I suggest:

Save a copy of all personal files from /home/tc.

If you use persistent home, delete /home/tc.

If you use persistent /opt, delete /opt.

If you use backup, delete mydata.tgz. This is normally in the tce directory.

Reboot.

alanl:
I was using the old mydata file.  I removed it and upgraded
to 2.8.  Now I don`t have any extensions being loaded!
I tried naming the directory tce and tcz.  Edited grub and
tried puting tce/tcz in /boot. Nothing works.  How do I
get 2.8 to see the extensions?

gerald_clark:
The tce directory name and location have not changed.
Please read the release notes in the release announcement.

Guy:
In versions prior to 2.8, extensions go in the /tce directory. From version 2.8, extensions go in the /tce/optional directory.

The owner and group of the /tce and /tce/optional directories should be tc:staff.
To change the owner and group, open the terminal and type:

sudo su
cd /mnt/hda1
chown tc:staff tce
cd tce
chown tc:staff optional

If you are using a partition other than hda1, change that as appropriate.

With version 2.8, you need to set up OnBoot and OnDemand.

Open the Control Panel. Click Apps Audit, OnBoot, then Maintenance. Click on extensions on the left side, you want to be automatically loaded when you start the computer. Do not click on dependencies. They will be automatically included.

Still using the Control Panel, click OnDemand. Type the numbers preceeding any programs you do not want to be loaded when you start the computer, but to be available from the OnDemand menu. Do not click on dependencies. They will be automatically included.
