"bullseye" new RPi operating system
« on: November 09, 2021, 04:16:15 AM »
Hello forum,

there is a new RPI OS built upon "Bullseye" Debian.

AMong many improvements is the use of KMS display
drivers and GTK 3

.....but also if you have a very modern Pi 4 you get a turbo clock
boost from 1.5ghz to 1.8ghz.......

https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/bullseye-bonus-1-8ghz-raspberry-pi-4/?fbclid=IwAR0w0Qe-NHKunIoeWbu8BvKrz03Lv9vPNTE-HxKUSqqLzVdQ1ObUOqVgejc

the overclock can even work on legacy RPI 4 boards

thx

V.

it is still a nice OS for the new "RPI ZERO 2 W" which can run very stable at 15.ghz
with a little cooling.

Because it has 512 ram....Bullseye wll default to the older OPENBOX window manager
and not the new "mutter" window manager but you DO get GTK3 and the other.
benefits on these low end boards.
You get "bookshelf" and other benefits too.  Free

i know DEVS here may use "RPI OS  Bullseye" for work and compilation and comparisons on Debian and TCL apps

Forget old overclocking habit :( If you need overclocking, it is not the right hardware for the use case.
