TCL makes front cover of Linux Format
« on: July 20, 2009, 02:05:14 AM »
Congratulations on tcl 2.1 making it onto the cover page of Linux Format (in the UK), along with Fedora 11 as one of their 2 featured distros.

Was this something you were approached about, or out of the blue?

Totally unaware of this. It is indeed a pleasant surprise.

On the inside as well this month. They've done a round-up of small/light distros. Tinycore didn't do too well in the rating (6/10) but not the worst. Slitaz won with 9/10.

What was the criteria for judging? Do they elaborate?

to compare is one thing, to evaluate is another one; i am always doubting of the usefulness of such ratings since there are only few common points between these distros, which do not share the same kernel version, the same functionnalities, the same aims etc.

How easy the distro was for a newbie and included features were a couple... which obviously works against TC where it is supposed to be a basic block from which you build up. They did note that it could be the base for some great distros in the future.

I think TC is a great distro as it is now. It is/can be exactly what you want. All it requires is the user to decide what they want in their desktop.
